That little girl is Pirates! Band of Misfits oc named Scarface. (See her scars.) She's an illegitimate child who must to get her livelihood with pickpocketing.

Okay, this story is queting The Adventure of the Blue Carbuncle a little but it's happening in France.
In the story Scarface steals a purse from some duke or count and makes him mad. Pirates find the girl and blah blah blah. She thanks them with serving tea and blah blah blah. If you have watched Sherlock Hound you know how this is going to continnue but the end is different: Pirate Captain and his men take her with them.
Scarface likes Pirate with a Scarf (or Number 2, like I say) a lot and sees him as a father character. (Or mother chacarter actually but she doesn't say it loud.)

I don't know how I'd execute that story but choises are fanfic and/or fan comic.
